Garry Monigold, 78, passed away May 8, 2017. Memorial Service will be Thursday May 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm at White’s Chapel UMC Southlake.
He was born Jan. 28, 1939 in Warren, IL. Graduated from Deshler HS Ohio and later attended Bowling Green State University and GMI Institute in Flint, Michigan studying Mechanical Engineering and joining the Sigma Nu Fraternity. After graduation he joined the US Navy in 1960 and was guided into electrical engineering. He served on the Aircraft Carriers; Wasp and Franklin Roosevelt. He participated in the Cuban Missile Blockade. He exited the service as a Petty Officer and the Navy training led him to IBM where he worked for 30 years in Ohio, Kentucky, and Texas. He loved Corvettes, Harley Davidsons and boats. After retirement he travelled often within the US and Europe. Gary belonged to White’s Chapel UMC where he participated in the choir. He sang with the choir in Germany, Austria, and Carnegie Hall.
Survivors: Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Marilyne of 51 years; son Kirk; mother Leone; an aunt; cousins; a nephew; 4 nieces and many friends. He brought excitement to his family exploring places, hole in the wall restaurants, and cultural events. He will be missed.
