HURST -- George Edward Thompson, 90, a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather died Friday, July 29, 2016.
Funeral: A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
Born in Columbus, Mississippi, on October 26, 1925 to David Burton Thompson and Marie Louise Eggleston Thompson. He spent his teenage years in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated from The Citadel and was a Veteran of WWII.
His careers lead him to RCA in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, to Boeing and Sperry Rand in Huntsville, Alabama, and to the FAA in Atlanta, Georgia, and then to Fort Worth. He was an active member in the Methodist Church and a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class at St. Paul UMC.
His wife, Rebecca, and grandson, Russell, preceded him in death.
Survivors: He was survived by his children, Elaine Champagne, Randall Thompson and wife Diane, and Joyce Thompson; grandchildren, Laura, Valerie, Amanda, and Chris; great-grandchildren, Elise, Blake, Austin and Hayden Rebecca; sister-in-law, Virginia Clark; sister, Annie Laurie Ahls and husband Bill; many nieces and nephews; and special loved ones, Joe DePaso and John Gabriel.
