Helen Louise Jewell, 88, of Dallas, TX passed away on May 29, 2016 The memorial service will be held at Windsor Senior Living where she lived June 4 @ 2pm 7750 LBJ Frwy, Dallas 75251.
Chaplain Bobby Tollison with Allstar Hospice will be officiating. Lucas Funeral Home of Grapevine will be handling the funeral arrangements. Burial will be at DFW cemetery on June 6 @ 2:30.
Helen was born in Moore, OK to Robert & Gladys Moore on August 22.1927. She went to high school at Will Rogers High School. After graduation she attended Tulsa University & worked at Southwestern Bell when she met Captain David Jewell, her future husband. She was an accomplished musician from age 11 and worked with various groups & individuals including band members of Diana Ross, Louie Armstrong and many others. Due to one of her son’s experience with what we would now call PTSD in the Marines during Vietnam she became deeply involved with homeless & mental illness groups.
Helen Jewell, loving mother, lifelong music aficionado is survived by her son, Steve. Her other son, Ken is now deceased. She has two grandsons, Alex and Addison as well as great-grandson, Aiden and daughter in-law Kristi. Her sense of humor and kindness will be dearly missed by Barney, Fusae, Carol, Edna, Patrice, Charlene and many other friends from Windsor.
