COLLEYVILLE -- Jerry Nichols, 78, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Colleyville. There will be a reception to follow the service for family and friends. Interment: Will be held at a later date at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in West. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, 137 E. Hill St., Keller.

Jerry was born March 24, 1938, in Waco to the late Chester Owen and Willie Lee Nichols. He played football in high school and received a scholarship to Texas A & M where he played for coach "Bear" Bryant and went on to receive his B.S. from Lamar University in Beaumont. Jerry was a very successful professional bass fisherman, avid hunter, and all around outdoorsman. He was a man of strong faith and was a long time member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Jerry was the owner and operator of Atlas Van Lines in Fort Worth. He is now in heaven re-united with his beloved son, John David and dog, Rufus.
Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Dorothy; daughter, Kay Avett; grandchildren; John Michael and Taylor Avett; sister, Frances Nichols; and many extended family members and friends.
