Mary Ellen Kelly Ford, 94, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017.
Mary Ellen Kelly Ford was born June 4, 1922 in Purdon, Texas and grew up in Corsicana. During World War II, she worked for Western Union in Washington, D.C. After returning to Corsicana, and still working for Western Union, she met her future husband, Truett J. Ford. She told her girlfriend that very evening that she "was going to marry that young man." And so she did on October 25, 1946. Two years later, they had their first child, Kelly, followed by Gretchen, Steve and Mickey. They moved to Hurst in 1960. Mary and Truett were married 67 years until his death in 2013.
Mary dedicated her life to raising her children and was involved in all their school and extra-curricular activities. She loved sewing and playing bridge with her friends and family. After Truett's retirement from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, they became active in the American Ex-Prisoners of War organization, where Mary served as the Sunshine Lady for many years. They enjoyed traveling and got to visit many interesting places in the U. S. as well as England, Canada, Mexico and through the Panama Canal. She belonged to Bellevue Baptist Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Truett J. Ford, her parents, Thomas and Ora Kelly, and her five siblings.
Mary is survived by her children, Kelly Ford and wife, Gay; Gretchen Smith and husband, Whit; Steve Ford and wife, Kim; and Mickey Ford, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her deeply.

Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Rd., Fort Worth. Burial 12:30 p.m., DFW National Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst.
