Ralph "R.D." Ross

Ralph Doyle "R.D." Ross, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 15, 2019 in Hurst, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, February 25, 2019 at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. Burial to follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.

R.D. was born on August 22, 1938 in Stamford, Texas to Ralph Sr. and Kathryn (Kinney) Ross. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1957, and attended Howard County Jr. College and the University of Texas where he ran track and set a record for running the mile in under 4 minutes. On June 14, 1960 R.D. married Wanda Childress at the First Baptist Church of Stamford, Texas. He had a life long career as an insurance adjuster and worked for the Saint Paul Insurance Company in Arlington, Texas.

R.D. always had a strong desire to give, this started when he was a young man as an Eagle Scout. Later in life he became a Scout Master, as well as a baseball and football coach, which gave him the opportunity to positively influence many young men in his community.

R.D. had a strong devotion to his Lord. He and Wanda were members of the First United Methodist Church of Bedford for many years and more recently were members of Gateway Church.

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Kathryn Ross.

R.D. is survived by his wife, Wanda Ross of Hurst; children, Melinda Lenehan of Treasure Island, FL, and Ralph Ross III and wife, Connie of Bowie, TX; grandchildren, Ross Lenehan of Treasure Island, FL, and Ken Ross and wife, Beth of Justin, TX; step-grandchildren, Carrie Sturdivant Wolff of Plano, TX, and April Anderson and husband, Darin of Driftwood, TX; great-grandchild, McKenna Ross; step-great-grandchildren, Channing Wolff, and Harlon and Coston Anderson; sister, Donna Kay Cole and husband, Joe of Granbury, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
