William A. Gehl, 98, left this earth, April 19, 2016 to join his adored wife of 59 years, Janet Temple Gehl, who predeceased him fifteen years ago.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Kris Heffner. Also his son Dr. Michael Gehl of New York. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition, many dear relatives and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
Bill was born on December 25, 1917 in Rochester, NY. He grew up in Buffalo, NY, spending most of his working career with the Reading Railroad. He retired in 1978 and lived in Vero Beach Florida for 33 years. He was also a five year veteran and Captain of World War II, entering the service 10 months before Pearl Harbor, and serving his last two years in the European Theater. He truly loved the Mavericks and Rangers and never missed a game.
At Bill's request, there will be no service. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
