Albert Eugene Barrow, has, in the words of the Apostle Paul, fought the good fight, ran the race, and kept the faith. Gene, as he was known to all, 92, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
Mr. Barrow was born on December 31, 1927, the son of Blanche and Joe Barrow, he was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth. Following in the footsteps of his 2 older brothers, he answered the call to serve our great county and enlisted as a proud member of the U.S Navy in 1943. Following the war he made his way back to Ft. Worth and it was during that time that he met the love of his life, Dorothy Schlesinger. They were married in 1951 and were happily married for 58 years before Dorothy’s death in 2009.
Gene began an illustrious career at Farmers Insurance in 1964. Dedicating himself to his company for over 50 years. He was revered as one of the most dynamic and longest tenured district managers in company history. In business, Gene was greatly admired for his integrity, optimism and salesmanship. He was a proud member of the Northeast Richland Lion’s club
and served his community faithfully through generosity and kindness. Gene was a longtime supporter of Christian education most notably Fort Worth Christian School and a devoted member of College Hill Church of Christ.
Those who knew Gene best will remember him for his loyalty, friendship, love of sweets and his unforgettable stories but it was family that he valued most.
Gene was preceeded in death by wife Dorothy Barrow. He is survived by their son Lloyd and his wife Betty, son Lance and his wife Melissa and son Mark. His 7 grandchildren, Bryan and his wife Bridgette, Marka Sue and her husband Jim, Katie, Brett, Caroline and her husband Max, Carlee, Brady, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
Funeral service will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fort Worth Christian School or a charitable organization of your choice.
