Albert Louis Mango, 84, of Hurst, died Thursday, March 9, 2023 at his family home. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Elaine Glembocki Mango and the loving father of Cheryl Mango-Paget (Doug Paget) of Flagstaff, AZ, Lisa Mango (Robert Kelly) of Greenbrae, CA and Melanie Mango DeChateauvieux (Charles DeChateauvieux) of N. Richland Hills, TX. Those who knew Al will remember that family was most important to him, as reflected by the many family outings, vacations and sporting events he organized and attended.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Albert Mango and Gladys (Taylor) Mango and sister Frances Mango-Thompson.
Al was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Academy High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Gannon University. Al retired from GTE/Verizon after a successful career of thirty-three years.
As devoted as he was to his family, he dedicated much of his time to community service. Notably, Al volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities of Fort Worth, and Mid-Cities Care Corps. Al was an usher and served as a member of the interfaith dialogue committee at Good Shepherd Catholic Community. He enjoyed golfing and was a long-time member of Trophy Club. Al has resided in Hurst for thirty-eight years.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Al is survived by eight grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Blocher of Austin, TX and Carolyn Kacprowicz of Erie PA; his best friend/cousin, Bert Straus and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Good Shepherd Catholic Community, 1000 Tinker Rd., Colleyville, TX. A Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow the interment in the church columbarium.
