Albertine Thornton Davis, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. She will forever be cherished. She was born on August 27, 1935, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to her loving parents Virginia and Albert Thornton.
Albertine's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to education and growth. She attended McKinley High School in Baton Rouge before furthering her studies at Southern University, where she earned her bachelor's degree. Her dedication to learning served as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Albertine is preceded in death by her parents - Virginia and Albert Thornton; her sister Leah Boatner, her brother Ralph Thornton and her son, Juan Davis.
In all of her surviving family and friends, Albertine will always hold a special place. She is survived by her daughter, LeJuene Davis; her sister, Virginia Woodfork; her nieces Stephanie Freeman and Mary Woodfork; and nephews Adrian Woodfork, and Keith Woodfork; as well as relatives Juanita Thornton, Hilaire Stover, Kevin Thornton, Cheryl Wright, Sabrina Thornton, and numerous other cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family members.
Albertine's warm spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of many. Her memory will be forever treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her. As the community gathers to bid farewell to this remarkable woman, a visitation will take place at Carter Metropolitan CME Church in Fort Worth, Texas on July 15th at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.
In honoring Albertine's life and legacy, let us remember the love she shared with each person she met and the light she brought into the world. May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
