Alfred Louis Span

Span, Alfred Louis “Big Al Span” of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on March 23, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on February 5, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to Rita (Poppy) Tumbry, Thomas Tumbry and William Span. Al went to the service, for his country at age 17. To go on and become an Army Paratrooper with 101st Air Born Screaming Eagles earning 3 purple heart’s and a bronze star. Married to his soul mate Donna Marie, he was a produce manager for Tops grocery store, avid fisherman all though never caught enough for dinner. He was a rocket builder, remote control guru, awesome cook, and a father. The greatest of his accomplishments was his family.

Al is survived by his loving devoted wife Donna Marie (Bellante), eldest son Michael Span his wife Eileen, California, eldest daughter Teresa Kurkul, husband Michael, Ohio, daughter Tina Girardot, husband Gary, Ohio, deceased son Alfie, Ohio, daughter Tanya Span, Ohio, son Neil Mastropietro, wife Angela, Ohio, son Michael Mastropietro, wife Ashley, Ohio and son Mathew Mastropietro, Ohio. Proud grandfather Poppy or Pops to Kati, Josh, Mary, Lee, Michael Patrick, Suzanne , Cassie, Anthony, Cailey, Colin, Anna G, Caleb, Anna B, Edie, Jake, Olivia, Carmen, Gianna, Carmella and Mikey. Proud great-grandfather to Calvin and Aiden. Brothers n Sisters are Brother in Law Michael Corky Manfredonia, wife deceased sister Carol (Span), Ohio, sister Cathy (Span) Senart, husband Joseph, Ohio, deceased brother Thomas Tumbry, wife Karen, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life for Al Span will be at Alliance United Methodist Church 7904 Park Vista Blvd., Fort Worth Texas 76137, Thursday March 28th, 2019 at 12:00 o’clock, noon followed by Honor Guard Salute and Refreshment in the Family Life Center.
