Alma JoAnne Walling, 72, passed away February 27, 2022 at Heritage Place Memory Care in Burleson, surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, March 4, 2022 at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home, 518 SW Johnson Ave, in Burleson. Burial will follow at Burleson Memorial Cemetery.
JoAnne was born November 3, 1949, in Houston, to Horace J. and Verna D. (Lowery) Middleton. She grew up in New Waverly, TX and graduated from New Waverly High School in 1967. After high school, she attended Massey Business School in Lufkin, where she received a degree in Business. She had a successful career at Bank of America for over 30 years before retiring in 2013. She was involved in American Businesswomen’s Association (ABWA), choir at First Baptist Church of Burleson, Acapella Women’s Ensemble, Tarrant County Bowling Association and various Sunday school classes.
JoAnne was married to Thomas Walling for 17 years. She enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, singing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Verna Middleton and her son-in-law, Martin Valerio.
JoAnne is survived by her daughter, Tracy Valerio; son, Michael Walling and wife, Melissa; sister, Rhonda Kinsey; brothers, Peyton Middleton and wife, Earline and David Middleton and wife, Holly; grandchildren, Kayley, Dylan, Malia, Sydney and Samantha; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
