Alva Fay Burns, age 92, a longtime resident of Everman, Texas, went to be with her Lord on December 25, 2021. She was born September 18, 1929 in Fort Worth, Texas to Claude and Annie Viola Langley. On August 27, 1949 she married the love of her life, Leonard Burns. Alva was very civic and community minded, serving as a member of The Everman Historical Society and the Friends of the Everman Library. She was a very active member of the Everman United Methodist Church. She worked as a church secretary for several years and as a medical transcriptionist for the Fort Worth State School. She received a certificate for her volunteer work with The Center for New Lives. Later in life she returned to education earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business (at the age of 60) from Tarrant County Junior College.
Alva was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 55 years, Leonard Burns; son, Leonard Scott Burns; and daughter, Ann Kendrick.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory; two daughters; Linda Stevens & husband Randy, Claudia Sutterfield & husband Terry; grandchildren, Shelley Thomas, Angela Stevens, Benjamin Sutterfield & wife Molly, Robin Stevens, and Christopher Sutterfield & wife Ashley; great-grandchildren, Allison, Bridgette, Emily, Grace, Raymond, Emersyn, Savannah, and one more girl on the way; brother, John Langley & wife Ruby; and many extended family members and friends.
The family would like to extend our special thanks to the medical personnel from Weatherford Healthcare Center and Medical City Weatherford who cared for our loved one.
