Andy and Shirley passed away at their home in Southlake, Texas, on October 15. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 2, at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Andrew John Michel, was born February, 18, 1932 in Poland. As a young boy he escaped the German invasion of Poland and later immigrated to the U.S. with his parents and brother, George. He proudly served the US Army in the 1st Calvary during the Korean War. Following in the footsteps of his father and brother, he began his career as an electrical engineer and retired from FAA Headquarters in Washington, DC in 2001. Andy enjoyed traveling, polka music, anything "Betty Boop", and a good joke.
Shirley Ann Allison Michel was born March 13, 1941, in Memphis, TN. She and Andy celebrated their 56th anniversary this past summer.She was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi and the VFW 10454 Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling over the years with Andy, friends and family. She also loved decorating her home for the holidays ,QVC, and visits from her family.
They are survived by their children: Katrina Failla of Jemez Springs, NM (Jennifer), Richard Failla of Shreveport, LA (Amy), and John Michel of College Station, TX (Genivieve) Grandchildren :Mary Grace and Grayson Failla, of Shreveport, LA Nephew: Charles Michel of Bella Vista, AR (Susan) Great Nieces, Megan Conover of Bentonville , AR (Brandon), Stephanie Michel of Kansas City , MO and the newest Michels, great-great nieces Claire and Kennedy Conover.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Airport Cities VFW Post 10454 in Grapevine, TX.
