Angela Barnes Annis was born on July 22, 1946 to Irvin and Leona Barnes in Burbank, California and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 18, 2019, in Grapevine, Texas.
Raised as an Air Force brat while her father served our country, Angela spent most of her high school years in Itazuke, Japan. The family then moved to Derby, Kansas where she spent her senior year and graduated from Derby High School.
Angela attended Oklahoma Baptist University where she graduated with a Bachelors degree majoring in Math. A few years later, Angela continued her education earning her Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington.
The highlight of Angela's college years at OBU was meeting the love of her life, Harold Annis, whom she married on December 22, 1967, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Angela and Harold honored and served the Lord through their loving, committed marriage of fifty-one years. Angela gave birth to their beloved son, Barney, in 1969 who brought her much joy throughout her life. For fun, she loved to water ski and snow ski with her family.
As a dedicated educator, Angela positively influenced the lives and minds of many young people teaching high school Math and Computer Science classes for thirty-two years. She taught for three years at Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth, Texas, five years in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and twenty-four years at Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas. As evidence of her impact on their lives, many of her students kept in touch with her after graduating and, to her delight, shared their successes with her.
Angela had the gift of serving and demonstrated it through the gracious way she lovingly served her family, her friends, and those in her Sunday School classes. She has faithfully taught Sunday School classes since the mid 1980ś at Memorial Baptist Church, which was later renamed Church at the Cross, in Grapevine.
Angela is survived by her husband, Harold Annis, her son and daughter-in- law, Barney and Claudine Annis, her two granddaughters, Caty and Alex, a sister-in-law, Donna Barnes,a niece and nephew, Jess Bellemer and Travis Barnes, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Preceding Angela in death are her parents, Irvin and Leona Barnes, and her brother Andy Barnes.
