ANGELINA KAMEL
Angelina was born in Al Akoura, Lebanon on December 26, 1928 and was the daughter of Elias Kamel and Suzanne Akl.
She emigrated to the U.S. in her early 20s as the bride of the late Paul Kamel and resided in Brockton, Massachusetts until 1977. Angelina moved to northern California and thoroughly enjoyed living there until 2016. She relocated to Southlake, Texas in 2016 to be near her daughter Toni, son-in-law Jim, and her three grandchildren Jamie, Ann, and William Fitzgerald.
Angelina was described as strong, feisty, and resilient by all who knew her. She overcame the many challenges of assimilating to a new country and culture. Angelina promptly attended English as a second language classes, obtained a driver’s license, and worked in manufacturing. She was most proud of becoming a U.S. citizen.
She helped both her family and many Lebanese families that emigrated to the U.S. Angelina was also instrumental in bringing her sisters the late Georgette Attieh and Touffaha Haddad and their families to the U.S. from Lebanon. Angelina had a close relationship with her nieces and nephews and enjoyed summer trips to the Boston area with them. She is survived by her sister Terese Assaker in Lebanon and many nieces and nephews in the Boston area, Florida, California, and Lebanon.
She was welcomed by Toni and Jim’s friends and neighbors in the Cross Timber Hills neighborhood. Her family will miss her gourmet Lebanese meals, ever helpful demeanor, company and beautiful smile.
Thanks to the Southlake Call a Ride Program she was able to remain independent and enjoy many happy times at the Keller Senior Center.
You may donate to the Call a Ride (CARS) of Southlake program in lieu of flowers. CARS is a nonprofit organization that provides free transportation to seniors and disabled persons in Southlake.
