Anne R Fowler

April 16, 1941 — January 12, 2023

Anne (Sullivan) Ross Fowler, 81, died peacefully at her home in Southlake, Texas
on January 12, 2023.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, to Joseph and Geraldine Sullivan, Anne was the
oldest of six children.  She dearly loved her sisters and brothers, Sheila, Geraldine,
Timothy, Kathleen, and Michael. In her early years in Connecticut, Anne loved to
play with her cousins, and spent much joyful time with all her grandparents –
Agnes and Frank O’Brien and Timothy and Theresa Sullivan of New Haven,
Connecticut. Joseph and Geraldine moved the family to the Wellesley,
Massachusetts area in the mid-1940s, and raised all six children in Wellesley.
Anne was a gifted singer and actor, and starred in many musicals in both high
school and college. She graduated from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven,
Connecticut. She had a beautiful soprano voice, and pursued her passion for
singing throughout her life, performing at many public and private events.
Anne married Angus MacKechnie Ross, of Laconia, New Hampshire, in May of
1963, and together they raised their four children, Nancy, Susan, Kenneth and
Kathleen, in Wellesley, Massachusetts, until Angus died in 1981. Her love for her
children and Angus knew no bounds.
In October of 1994, Anne married Warren Wentworth Fowler, of Beverly,
Massachusetts.  In 2002, they moved to Port Charlotte, Florida, where they
enjoyed seventeen years together. Anne was a devoted member of San Pedro
Catholic Church in Northport, Florida. She sang regularly with the choir, served as
cantor at weekly masses, and sang for many masses, as well as other public
events. She found dear friends she counted as family in Port Charlotte, and had a
profound impact on their lives.
Anne was a brilliant salesperson, and she had a successful career in real estate.
Founding partner and owner in two New England real estate firms, she was a
pioneer in the field at the time as a strong leader of two female-owned
businesses. She continued her successful thirty year career in Port Charlotte,
Florida until her retirement.
In recent years, Anne and Warren moved to Southlake, Texas, to be closer to
family. Her family is deeply grateful for the tender care she received from the
Memory Care staff at Discovery Village in Southlake and from the hospice staff at
Champion Healthcare of North Texas.
Anne was an extraordinary woman, who loved her children and family deeply.
She was a musician, an accomplished singer, an avid reader and scholar, and had
a brilliant sense of humor. She always had a twinkle in her eye, a song to sing, and
a story to tell. The kindness, joy and light she brought to the world are perhaps
her greatest legacy of all.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Warren Fowler.  They were
blessed to share much joy and many adventures during their nearly thirty year
marriage. Some of their most cherished memories are of time spent together with
family and friends, and the simple pleasures of daily life together.
Anne was the loving mother of Nancy Ross Stricker and her husband Travis, Susan
Ross Wells and her husband Edward, Kenneth Angus Ross and his wife Suzanne,
and Kathleen Anne Ross. She was the loving stepmother to Susan Sponenberg-
Miller and Joanne Peatfield.
She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Abigail, Nicholas and fiancée Natalie
Finks, Grace and Joseph Stricker; Emily, Alec and Hannah Ross; Dylan and Angus
Rowe; and Sarah and Abby Sponenberg. And she leaves her dear sisters, Kate
Sullivan and her husband Bill Scott, Sheila O’Malley and her husband Ben
DeWinter, and brother J. Timothy Sullivan Jr and his wife Maryann. She also
leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
Anne was preceded in death by her first husband Angus MacKechnie Ross,
parents Joseph and Geraldine Sullivan, brother Michael Sullivan, sister Geraldine
(Sullivan) McCarthy, and step daughter Susan Sponenberg-Miller.
A celebration of Anne’s life will be held in New England in the coming year. The
family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her
name to the organization of your choice that supports or celebrates the fine arts.
