Anthony “Tony” Amendola was born on May 20, 1949 in San Lucido, Italy to the late Vincenzina Deluca and Pietro Amendola. He passed away suddenly on March 9, 2023 in Bedford, Texas at the age of 73 years old.
Tony grew up in Harlem and the Bronx, New York and graduated from Aviation High School. He served our country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Tony was a very hard worker and retired as a crew chief with American Airlines and retired in 2008. Tony loved baseball and actually was drafted to play for the Detroit Tigers. However, he was a devoted New York Yankees fan. But his true commitment was his family. He was a supportive and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His wife’s happiness was truly an important mission in his life. They enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Tony was also known to have a green thumb and had true talent when it came to growing anything. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nicki Amendola of Bedford, Texas; beloved daughters, Nancy Martin of Hurst and Toni McMurtre and husband, Bryan of Euless, Texas; grandsons, Matt McGann, Meier McMurtre, Miller McMurtre, and Mike McMurtre; siblings, Carmela Ritchie and husband, Wayne of Virginia, Joe Amendola and wife, Betty of New York, Emilio Amendola and wife, Darlene of New York and Annie Amendola also of New York; numerous niece and nephews and a host of friends.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Saturday, March 25, 2023 followed by a service at 4:00 P.M. at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.
