Anthony Barrera was a loving and devoted father to Priscilla and Jaslyn, an endearing son, a phenomenal big brother to Victoria and Matthew, an outstanding Uncle to his nephews and niece, and a fantastic cousin and nephew. He had many strong and meaningful relationships with his family and friends. Anthony will be missed by anyone who was touched by his light. God called him home on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Anthony lived most of his life in Grand Prairie, TX, where he and Cecilia had two beautiful daughters. They enjoyed watching them grow into lovely young ladies. Anthony loved spending time with his daughters during whatever events were going on in their lives. You could often find him cheering them on as they played soccer in the cold and pouring rain, enjoyed a meal at their favorite restaurants, or went to school events where he beamed with pride. Recently, he moved his daughter Priscilla into college and appeared more excited than her. Anthony’s creative talent is seen in his daughter Jaslyn’s innovative imagination and personality.
Anthony was a devoted son with a caring nature. He was always respectful of his mother’s wishes. Often, he would voice his appreciation for all his mother did for him. He honored his mother by trusting her advice and sharing his loving and humorous spirit. He had a close relationship with his father, Michael Manry, who often supported him in any endeavor he had. His father taught him life skills, such as how to change the brakes on his vehicle and how to work on the electrical side of things involving his vehicle. But most importantly, his father was present and had many deep talks about life and his daughters. Whenever Anthony needed advice or a lending hand, his father was there.
Anthony often spent time with his sister, Victoria, and her family. He was very patient and loving toward his nephews and niece. He never tired of their crazy antics or energy and often created videos of these moments. Anthony could always rely on his sister to help pick him up when he felt down, and he would do the same for her. They were best friends. He also loved his “Cuñado,” Adrian, who was a constant support system during good and bad times. His presence at the children’s sporting events with his Dallas Cowboys’ chair and notable women’s golf (LPGA) umbrella will be missed.
Anthony loved his cousins and spent countless weekends watching professional sports, watching kids’ soccer games, and playing video games with them. Anthony was a simple but impactful young man who supported and participated in his family’s passions, such as family volleyball tournaments, bowling, and fishing. He enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. He created music and videos and enjoyed playing pranks on his cousins. Never tell him you were on a diet because he would quickly deliver a large pizza to your location.
After graduating from high school, Anthony enlisted in the Marines at age 18. Although he served briefly, his contribution will always be remembered and appreciated.
Anthony found a career he was passionate about, took additional educational steps to advance, and was proud of his work. He often said he finally found a career that best suited his ideal job. He thrived in the IT sector and enjoyed the challenges his career path brought.
Anthony is survived by his daughters Priscilla and Jaslyn Barrera, his mother Carolyn Williams (David Williams), his father Michael Manry, sister Victoria Faz (Adrian Faz), and their children Daniel, Logan, and Eliana Faz, and stepbrother Riley Williams. He is preceded in death by his older sister, Priscilla E. Barrera.
