Anthony "Tony" Goyang

December 28, 1950 — March 8, 2024

Tony Goyang, 73, of Burleson, Texas, a devoted Christian, cherished husband to Cynthia, revered father, and adored grandfather, passed away on March 8, 2024. A man of faith and fortitude, Tony, was born and raised in Nigeria. He went to Oklahoma State University, where he not only pursued academic excellence, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s in Public Administration/Political Science, but also laid the groundwork for a life filled with purpose, passion, and a touch of determination that only an engineer could possess.

Tony and Cynthia, his wife, made their home in West Texas, where they raised three wonderful sons—Tony Jr., (Kellie and stepdaughter Desiree Womack) Cliff., (Edna and daughters Myra and
Monica)., Aaron (Kristina). Tony’s family also includes his siblings, Christiana, Jemima, Tani, Rebecca, Rita, Nanchin, Joy, Pinmwa and Queen, John, Henry, Emmanuel, Gregory(late) and Dungshang (late) along with a host of friends who also mourn the loss of a truly exceptional man.

For many years, Tony dedicated himself to coaching youth soccer, and track and field where his engineering precision oddly complemented his coaching style. He wasn’t just training athletes; he was engineering futures, one disciplined step at a time. His unique approach blended discipline and care, profoundly influencing countless young lives, inspiring them to leap hurdles both literal and metaphorical.

Tony’s exuberance for life and his laughter were infectious. Whether he was studying his Bible, spending time with family and friends, meticulously guiding his staff, or planning track season, he imparted life lessons with a mixture of wisdom, skill, and humor. Tony did it all with a larger-than-life enthusiasm, a twinkle in his eye, and a joyful smile.

Beyond his accomplishments, Tony enjoyed time with friends out on the golf course, a regular workout, and the satisfaction of helping others. Above all, he loved the Lord and those around him. He showed his love not by merely saying, but by dedicated doing. His passion, as with everything else in his life, embodied the Lord’s love, compassion, and community. His guiding hand and steadfast faith were sources of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him. Tony’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him. Yet, in the midst of our sorrow, we find solace in the rich tapestry of memories he leaves behind—a legacy of love, laughter. As we bid farewell, we do so knowing that we who have hope in the Lord will join him in heaven. His legacy will forever run alongside us, urging us on to cross our own finish lines with grace, determination, and a bit of that Tony-inspired humor to lighten the way.

In lieu of flowers, the Goyang family kindly requests donations be made to a local youth soccer or track and field club, a cause close to Tony’s heart.
