Ara “Edwinna” Whatley Provence left this earth to live in Heaven with her Lord and savior on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in Bridgeport, TX. Visitation will be Monday, December 23, 2019 at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, TX at 10:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.
Edwinna was born on September 13, 1933 near Sobol, Oklahoma to her parents, Heck and Essie Whatley. She graduated from Rattan High School in 1951, later that year on November 19th, she married Buck Provence of Rufe, Oklahoma, in DeQueen, Arkansas. Buck was working at Swift’s & Co in Fort Worth, TX, she joined him there and they started their life together in a small garage apartment in Fort Worth.
Edwinna was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and many other things. When she was close to 50 years of age, she learned how to oil paint and decorate cakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Buck. She is survived by her sister, Wava Hayes and nephew Bill Hayes of Houston, TX. Her other survivors are daughters, Helen Trammell and her husband Travis of Saginaw, TX; Charlene Prescott, husband Les of Oklahoma City, OK; and son Steve, wife Allison of Poolville, TX. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many friends and extended family. She will be greatly missed.
