Arthur “Art” Lee Willett died unexpectedly of heart failure at the age of 78 on February 25, 2022, at home.
Art was born June 21, 1943, to Vina and Lee Willett in Enid, Oklahoma where he grew up and eventually enlisted in the Army National Guard as a radio teletype operator and aircraft mechanic at Vance Air Force Base.
Art met the love of his life and surviving wife, Kay Doty Willett, in Kiowa, Kansas at the Bo Diddily Teen Hop where thereafter they got married on August 26, 1967, and moved to Bedford, Texas to settle down and have two children, Amy and Todd.
Art worked in a machine shop at MAPCO in Fort Worth, Texas where he years later retired from. After retirement, Art and Kay moved to North Richland Hills to be closer to family. Art and Kay spent their summers in Red River, New Mexico. Which is where they truly loved to be as Art always had a project he had to complete. Fixing up this home away from home he and Kay had built become a love and passion as he later spent an immense amount of time with his children and grandchildren there.
Art is survived by his family, including his wife Kay Willett, their children and spouses Amy and Aaron Young and Todd Willett. He is also survived by Retta and Jim Cole and their son and spouse Ron and Sherry Cole with their two daughters Randy and Danielle Cole. Art was an amazing and loving granddad to his 6 grandchildren Devon, Layne, Dylan, Payton, Damon, and Shay. He is also survived by countless other friends and family members.
