Arvada Harden

August 29, 1918 — July 29, 2013

FORT WORTH -- Arvada Baker Harden, 94, died peacefully Monday, July 29, 2013, after a short illness.

Graveside Service: 11 a.m., Friday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Viewing: Noon to 7 p.m., Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania, Fort Worth.

Born August 29, 1918, in Balko, Oklahoma, to Pearl and Robert Person, Arvada was the youngest of three girls. Her 1937 Spur, Texas marriage to Delmar F. Baker produced three boys, Lamond, Bill, and Robert. As a family, they established residence in Fort Worth, where she resided until her death.

After Delmar was killed in a tragic auto accident in 1950, Arvada went to work as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1985. She married Glen Harden in 1953, and he and his son Thurman became members of the "Riverside" clan in good standing. Glen died in 1987.

Arvada's cheerfulness, kindness, and expansive generosity touched many lives over the years. Her extended family, her boys' high school buddies, her neighbors, and the supportive members of her beloved church, even strangers all experienced her magic touch. You were always the most important person in her life when you were in her presence.

Her family would like to thank the members of her church and the finest nursing unit in the world at Baylor All Saints for the loving care they gave Arvada. We will also be forever grateful to Dr. Milam and her staff.

Arvada was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and husbands, Delmar and Glen, and her son Lamond.

Survivors: Sons Bill and wife, Joyce, Robert; daughter-in-law Betty; stepson Thurman and wife, Jeanne; stepdaughters Diane and Donna; special nieces Pat and Linda; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
