Arvel Leo Solomon was the first child born to Taylor Hurt Solomon and Bethel Ona Young Solomon on March 24, 1923.
He had 8 brothers and sisters and was a share croppers son. His stories of living off of black eyed peas and a biscuit during the Great Depression and surviving the Spanish Flu after the war were amazing. did I mention he never ate another black eyed pea after the Great Depression. He picked cotton all day for .05 cents and hour as a teenager. He was in the U S Army and worked at the ammunitions plant in Jacksonville AR until the end of WWII. He then went on to work as a Tool and Die machinist in Bartlesville OK before excepting a job in Hurst Texas where he lived for the remainder of his days. retiring at the age of 77.
Arvel and his wife Mary Lee lived in Hurst Texas since 1962. He loved music and playing his Les Paul Guitar and piloting his own plane. He was a firm believer in God and a heavenly home. Arvel left us 2 weeks short of his 100th birthday but he has a large party waiting to celebrate with him in heaven.
Arvel was preceded in death my his father Taylor, mother Bethel his brothers Leon, Thomas, Lewis and Charles and his sisters Beatrice, Lola and Dorthy.
Arvel is survived by his brother Bobby Solomon and wife Alice Solomon of Colorado Springs, CO.
