Audrey was born Sept. 22, 1923, in San Benito to Thomas Cager and Daisy Hembree Knight. Audrey graduated from San Benito High School. While working in Harlingen she met Lt. Allan F. Chaffin, a young Air Force pilot stationed at Harlingen Air Force Base.

They married July 3, 1944, and began a life in the military traveling to many states and also Japan.

After 27 years in the Air Force, Allan retired in 1967 and they moved to North Richland Hills. Audrey was a devoted stay-at-home mom and tireless volunteer. She was recognized with over 500 hours of volunteer work with the Air Force. She dedicated time as room mother, chaperone and carpool driver for most of her children's activities. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. After her children were grown, she went to work at Tarrant County Junior College Northeast Campus. She worked in the Senior Center and served on the Northeast Senior Council. Later she transferred to the school's library where she worked for several years.

Audrey had many interests, but genealogy was a hobby she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved children and treasured the time with her grandchildren.
