Audrey June Strickland, age 81, passed away in her home, surrounded by love, November 14, 2021.
June was born June 25, 1940 in Knox City, TX to Alfred James and Alma Gladys (Bid) Oates. She grew up in Rochester, TX. She married Wilburn Alexander Strickland August 17, 1957 and had 4 children, Audrey Janean, Danny Paul, Wanda Lanell and Buddy Wayne.
June was a homemaker until she went to work for KMart in 1974. She worked there for 25 years, continuously recognized by many for her work ethic and drive, which she instilled in each of her children. Upon retirement from Kmart, June went to work for Dollar Tree where she was “The Best” at what she did each and every day. She sincerely loved her friends there.
Granny June’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family. She enjoyed fishing, bird watching, word search puzzles, the Hallmark channel and her cat and dog. She had a stubborn streak (another trait she passed on to three of her four children) and was a “force to be reckoned with” but she was also a kind, loving soul, willing to help anyone in any way she could, nothing expected in return. Granny June was truly loved, made an impression on each and every person that had the privilege of knowing her and will be truly missed!
June is survived by her children, Leon and Janean Baker, Danny and Darla Strickland, Lanell Reynolds, Buddy and Renee Strickland; grandchildren, Bo and Britni Hawkins, Cody and Susan Baker, Jacob Strickland, Anthony and Lacey Amason, Jon and Jessica Brown; great-grandchildren, Cadyn and Chyan Baker, Beckett, Berkley and Brynn Hawkins, Joey Amason, Tanner and Cali Canida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wanda Jenkins and husband, Jack and their daughter Cynthia, Lydia Duncan and husband, RJ and their son Jimmy and Sandra Walton and husband, John.
