B.J. "Scooter" Carlson

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- B.J. "Scooter" Carlson, 67, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully ask that donations be made to the Humane Society or a favorite charity of your choice.
B.J. was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Cleburne and graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1968. In 1969 he married Mary Decker. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the U.S. Army. After serving his country, he studied Law Enforcement and served his community as an Irving Police Officer. He then moved into private security before retiring in 2012. He considered his greatest achievement to be his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors: Wife of 47 years, Mary Carlson; son, Billy Carlson III and wife, Cathy; daughter, Karen Carlson and husband, Paul Settlemire; brother, Carl Carlson and wife, Sue; grandchildren, Zac, Rachel, Sydnee, Kelly, Baylee, and Beth; great-grandchildren, Jace, Haynie, Aiden, with two more on the way; a host of nieces and nephews; and friends, and extended family members.
