On Friday, July 9, 2021, Barbara Sue Blalock, 75, of Bedford, Texas, peacefully ended her earthly journey and is now resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Barbara was born to Guy and Jewel Burton in Waco, TX on July 18, 1945. She lived in various towns and cities across Texas growing up as a pastor’s daughter. She graduated from Crosbyton High School, attended Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, TX and graduated from Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, TX.
She married Larry Blalock on March 28, 1970 in Grand Prairie, TX, and they were blessed with two children, Roger and Susanna.
Barbara had a passion for travel that she fostered in her early 20s, when she began taking multi-state road trips with family and friends. Throughout her life, she visited most of the 50 states and 20 countries, never passing up an opportunity to explore new destinations, from Norway to New Zealand and anywhere in between. She loved creating memories and could usually be found behind the camera capturing the moment, especially of her kids or grandkids.
Barbara was known for her generous heart, constantly giving to those in need. She loved to laugh, particularly with her family and many friends. Among all her friends, she deeply cherished her church family and often stayed long after service to talk to as many people as she could. To Barbara, a stranger was never a stranger, but a friend whom she simply hadn’t met yet. She was happiest when her family was together, so she volunteered to organize dozens of family reunions throughout the decades.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Jewel Burton, and her sisters, Mary Lou Price and Mary Ann Burton.
Barbara is survived by her husband Larry; son Roger and his wife Zaneta, their children Grayson, Spencer and Hannah of Erie, CO; daughter Susanna Kline and her husband Charley of Champaign, IL; son Patrick Price of Hurst, TX; nephew Nathan Price of San Marcos, TX; her brothers Daniel of Mexico, David and Steve Burton of Whitney, TX, her sister, Pat Hoelscher, of Austin, TX; and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to her visitation from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, July 14 at Lucas Funeral Home – Grapevine and her Celebration of Life service is at 10 am on Thursday, July 15 at Bethesda Community Church. Interment will follow at Grapevine Cemetery.
