Fort Worth , Texas – Barbara Nuss, age 79, passed away on August 6,2024. She was a beloved mother, wife and friend who will be missed by all that knew her. Barbara fought for many years against Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Myeloma cancer, Parkinson's and ultimately dementia.
Barbara was born on March 2nd, 1945 in Chicago where she went to school and met her husband of 57 years, Patrick. After graduating from high school and secretarial school, Barbara became a receptionist at a Michigan Ave brokerage firm where she remained until welcoming the first of her 3 children. Barbara was a devoted mother and wife who moved frequently because of her husband’s career at IBM. She and her family lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, Connecticut and Texas. With each move, Barbara would involve herself with her community and church. She was a Sunday School teacher, Treasurer for a school PTA, Newsletter Editor for the Woodland Hills HOA in Colleyville TX and eventually the HOA President.
One of Barbara’s passions was her garden and flowers – roses in particular. She was involved with the Colleyville Garden Club and became President in 2000. Barbara was deeply involved with the garden club’s participation in the Fort Worth Flowercade and the Promenade which was a tour of residential gardens. With all of Barbara’s activities she relished the opportunity to do public speaking. Whether it was addressing the Colleyville City Council or being the keynote speaker at the Garden Club. Most people don’t like speaking to a large audience; Barbara thought it was fun and an opportunity to be pursued. Barbara was also a member of the Quilting Divas which was a social organization, but was also comprised of outstanding quilters, crocheters and knitters. Everyone in her family has a blanket created for them by their mom and gramma/grammy.
Barbara is survived by her husband Patrick, children; Paul Nuss wife Patty, Kenneth Nuss wife Tracey, and Gina Smith husband Adam, grandchildren; Patrick Nuss, Matthew Nuss and Blake Smith; sister Laura and her brothers Dennis and Thomas.
