Barbara Jean Schneider

.Barbara Jean (née Hoyer) Schneider was born December 19, 1942 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to the late Martha (née Miller) Hoyer and Frank “Joe” Joseph Hoyer. She passed away peacefully at her home on December 24, 2022 at the age of 80 years old.

Barbara was pure joy to all who knew her! She cared deeply about child literacy and worked as a Title 1 teacher aide for 27 years in Cy-Fair ISD in Houston. After retirement, she worked with disabled adults at Reach Unlimited until she moved to Lantana to be closer to her daughter Penny. She was passionate about caring for the disadvantaged and “the least of her brethren”. She enjoyed lively debates of religion and politics, loved music, making digital art and playing the guitar. Most importantly, she loved her grandchildren, children and her beloved Jerry. Her family was her world. Her spunk, good humor, tenacity for getting one more picture or video will be remembered for generations as she captured the good times for all around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Guy Schneider. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Francis “Jerry” Schneider of Lantana, TX; children, Holly Ross and husband Denny Ross of Jacksonville, FL and Penny Apollaro and husband Tony Apollaro of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Madeleine Ross, Lauren Apollaro, Olivia Ross, Abby Schneider, Anthony Apollaro, Sophia Ross and Jack Apollaro.

Visitation was held for immediate family December 28, 2022 at Lucas Funeral Home, Grapevine, TX. Funeral Mass will be held at 12pm Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church located at 5201 Cross Timbers Rd., Flower Mound, TX 75022 with Father McDaniel presiding. Reception for friends and family of Barbara will follow Mass. The burial ceremony is planned for June 2023 at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio.
