Barbara Joan Standish-Harris

July 25, 1934 — June 22, 2022

Barbara Joan Standish-Harris “Nanny,” has “graduated” and joined our Lord on June 22, 2022. Born Barbara Joan Biddle on July 25, 1934, in San Diego, California, she accepted Christ as Savior and Lord in April 1944 at the age of Nine. In 1951 Barbara met and married David Timothy Standish and raised six children together.

During this time, she worked as an Administrative Secretary in the medical field intermittently over the next 20 years to help support this growing family. Widowed after 39 years of marriage, she later met her new love, William Thomas “Bill/Poppy” Harris while on a mission trip to Australia. In 1991 Barbara and Bill married in Arlington, Texas and then returned to Australia for the next nine years. While in Australia, together Barbara and Bill attended Y.W.A.M.’s University of the Nations Campus in Canberra, A.C.T. Australia, thus beginning their new adventure as short-term missionaries teaching, loving, and encouraging all who would come to Christ.

In 2000 Barbara and Billed moved back to the United States to live in Bedford, Texas to be closer to Barbara’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Shortly after their return to Texas, they became members of the Restoration Church in Euless, Texas serving as Life Group Pastors, Missions Assistants, participating on Ministry Teams and as volunteers in various capacities. Later they became active members of Covenant Church of Colleyville, Texas and City Life Church of Euless, Texas.

Barbara and Bill lived very happily here in Texas enjoying family gatherings, birthdays and meeting all the newest girlfriends, boyfriends, and the newest additions to the family until Bill’s passing on January 3, 2020, as she called it his “graduation.” During Barbara and Bill’s time together in Australia and Texas, their love for Christ took them on many Mission travel adventures, traveling to the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and China where they preached the word of God and received all who wished to accept him as their Lord and Savior in their lives and finally, traveling to Honduras several times to preach his word to all that would listen and continued financially supporting the education of two young boys and their sister to the day of her passing. The oldest boy recently graduated from college, the sister graduated high school and the youngest brother is in the seventh grade.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Charlotte, and Thomas Biddle, first husband, David Timothy Standish, second husband, William Thomas Harris, half-brother, Tom Biddle, half-sister, Virginia Lasseter, her son and daughter-in-law Pat and Kim Standish and grandchildren Marcus, and Zachary Standish).

Barbara, looking forward to her heavenly adventure, her “graduation,” leaves behind her children, David Standish II (Tena), Mike Standish (Pegeen), Kathleen Racek (Ross), Kelly Standish (Kathi) and Steve Standish (Glenna). Grandchildren, Reagan Dee Hamilton, Cameron Smith (Jonathan), Lauren Nichols (Matt), Dylan Standish (Alison), Alexia Standish, Dalton Standish (Kate), Carly Morris (Matt), David Blanchard Jr., Chelsea Standish, Christian Standish (Victoria), Nathan Standish, Mason Standish, and Parker Standish. Greatgrandchildren, Ashlee and Ethan Stover, Alli Nichols, Grant Standish, Kayly and Zayn Morris, Emberlynn and Aliya Blanchard, Devin Fagan, Ixchel Cantu, Alex and Anthony Estrada and CJ Standish. Barbara loved her family dearly, all of whom she was immensely proud. She also leaves behind Mr. Bob Meyer, “her BFF” as she called him, as well as a wealth of very close and loving friends that she called her other/second family.
