Ben Merl Logan, 87 died October 16, 2016, at home under the care of Community Hospice of Texas.
Visitation: Thursday, October 20, 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst.
Service: Friday, October 21, 11:00am at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
Ben was born November 4, 1928 in Brawley, California, to Lester and Hazel Jones Logan. He grew up without a father and his mother died when he was 10. He moved around a great deal during his childhood. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth in 1945. Ben served two years in the U.S. Army where he was trained and worked as a laboratory technician. He graduated from Baylor University in 1952 and from Baylor Medical School in 1954. Ben practiced family medicine in Poteet and Jourdanton, and in Roswell, New Mexico. He completed a residency in Radiology at UT South Texas Medical School in San Antonio in 1966. He practiced radiology in San Antonio and in Hobbs, New Mexico.
He married Shirley Faseler in 1953 and they had three children. After her death, he married Alice Flint in 1978. He enjoyed studying music, especially music theory, guitar, and piano, after his retirement from medicine in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Garland Logan, and his sister-in-law, Billie Logan.
Survivors: Wife, Alice Flint Logan; daughters, Lisa Sellers and husband Paul of San Antonio, Lori Logan and fiancé Jeff Brown of San Antonio, and Lana Logan of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Catherine Crim and fiancé John Grimshaw, and Allen Sellers; brother-in-law Charles Flint and wife Becky; and several nieces and nephews. The family is especially appreciative of the caregivers who took care of Ben for the last 3 years, especially Deb Arrive who lived in their home, and Cathy Berg, Maria Jimenez, and Tangi Kaumavae.
