Bennett Daniel Black, 84, was born on December 17, 1934 and passed away on March 9, 2019.
Funeral Liturgy Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 11:00 am, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3713 Harwood Rd, Bedford, Texas. A luncheon at the church will immediately follow the service.
Ben was born in Amsterdam, NY to Bennett and Margaret Portley Black. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, attended Boston University and in 1962 graduated from the University of Vermont where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Society. In 1963 he married Mary Anne Vandeventer. During their 55 year marriage, they enjoyed living throughout the United States, including in New Jersey, California, Alaska, Connecticut, Virginia and, finally, in Texas.
Ben was preceded in death by his late parents; his brother, James S Black; and sister Shirley Black Kwiatkowski.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Anne; son, Daniel Bennett Black; daughters, Suzanne Black Johnson (Brian), Catherine Black Stone (William), and Ellen Black Colavito; grandchildren, Bennett and Olivia Black, Sam and Spencer Johnson, Kyle, Derek and Jake Stone, Danielle and Alex Colavito, Andrea Johnson Adams and Troy Johnson; sisters, Mary Jane Black and Elizabeth Black Frazier; brother, Bernard Black.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice.
