Bernadette Gertrude Hammill Robey, 96, of Keller, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025. Born on September 8, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Gertrude (Hoffman) and George Hammill. She attended high school at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Pittsburgh. 

Bernadette's life was defined by her deep love for her family and her passion for helping others. She was married for 50 years to her late husband, John Robey Jr., whom she married on February 7, 1948. John preceded her in death in 1998. Together, they built a loving family and a legacy of service. 

Bernadette's heart for community led her to found the Wise Senior Citizens Center in Louisville, Kentucky, where she touched countless lives by providing food, transportation, and companionship to those in need. She loved to plant tomatoes and gardenias. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to various organizations, always eager to help in any way she could. 

In the 1950s, Bernadette was an Avon manager, later becoming a successful realtor in the 1970s and 1980s.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Robey Jr., her son Mark Albert Robey,her grandson Justin Robey, and her son-in-law Doug Oetting. She is survived by her brother David Hammill, her daughters Georgia Simon (Gary) and Jill Oetting, sons Paul Robey (Jill) and Jack Robey, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Bernadette was also deeply cherished by her very special friends, Pete and Suzanne McIntosh. 

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller.  Another memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Thomas L. Nied Funeral Home Inc. in Swissvale, PA.     

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local Meals on Wheels or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, two causes close to Bernadette’s heart.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
