Bessie Lena Cox

July 20, 1940 — December 4, 2019

Bessie Cox, of Colleyville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at home. She was born on July 20, 1940 in Irving, Texas in which she was the last of 14 children that included 5 sets of twins born to Buren and Lena Hamm.

Bessie loved her family and friends with a passion. Her strong faith sustained her through many physical struggles that resulted from a work accident in 1983. Bessie loved to garden and would often mention that she would meet her Heavenly Father there. Fitting that one of her favorite hymns was “In the Garden.” She was especially proud of her still living, Seven Sisters Rose Bush that she got from her mother. Bessie had a style all her own and was meticulous about her appearance and home. She was also a very good cook and her Chocolate Bundt cake was always the favorite at holidays.

Bessie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Cox of Colleyville, Texas, her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Carmen Cox of Weatherford, Texas, her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Roy Duty of Watauga, Texas, grandchildren, Tracy Cox and wife Megan of Fort Worth, Texas, Terica Brackett of Weatherford, Texas, Heather Brackett of Huntsville, Alabama and Christopher Cox and wife Brooke of Azle, Texas, five great grandchildren and a long list of family members she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by Granddaughter, Randi Brackett of Watauga, Texas, her parents and numerous siblings.
