Betty Looney

July 30, 1941 — May 10, 2018

Betty Wisner Looney, 76, was called to Heaven after a seven year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born July 30, 1941 in Sioux City, Iowa to Albert and Julia Wisner, the youngest of six children. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Education, and received a Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas. Teaching was her greatest passion, and over her 40-plus year career, she taught hundreds upon hundreds of children to read. Betty was the teacher most parents requested and every child remembered. She spent the majority of her career in the Grand Prairie ISD, and in 2002 finished her career at the school her granddaughters attended, Holy Trinity Catholic School of Grapevine.
She was a mother and grandmother beyond compare, and although her illness deprived her of memory and many faculties were diminished, her grace and light remained intact. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her granddaughters, sharing in each and every moment of their lives. She was witty, smart, kind and glamorous, and while she will be greatly missed, we rejoice that she now lives in eternal peace. Betty is survived by her loving family, daughter Julie Lucht, husband Shawn, granddaughters Emily and Lauren, as well as extended family and friends.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Community Chapel located at 1000 Tinker Rd., Colleyville, Texas 76034, with Inurnment and reception to follow at the Church. The family wishes to thank the numerous caretakers whose love and devotion made the final years of her life peaceful and comfortable. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Betty’s name to Holy Trinity Catholic School of Grapevine or the Alzheimer’s Association
