Betty Jane Harrison Priddy, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, was born March 12, 1943, in Mexia, Texas to Ila Faye and L. M. Harrison. Betty resided in Euless, Texas in the same home she and her husband Wayne bought in 1963. She went to heaven March 11, 2024, one day before her 81st birthday, with her family by her side.
As a young girl, Betty worked on her family’s dairy farm alongside her parents and her sister Shirley. Betty met Wayne Milton Priddy in Dallas while the two were living in the same apartment complex. They were married April 6, 1962, and moved to Euless, Texas. Betty was the proud mother of two sons, Steven Boyd Priddy, born in 1964, and Michael David Priddy, born in 1967. She worked as a secretary at Metroplex Parts and State Farm. She loved cooking, quilting, crafting, reading, and working in her garden and yard; she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren! Betty and Wayne were married 51 years and were always together; they enjoyed attending church and Sunday school, volunteering, traveling, and attending their grandchildren’s sporting events, recitals, awards ceremonies, and graduations.
Betty always had a heart for service. She volunteered at her sons’ schools, the Mid-Cities Pee-wee Football Association, the Mid-Cities Little Dribblers, the Euless Baseball Association, and the Trinity High School Athletic Booster Club. She and her husband volunteered at church, together with their Sunday school class named the Questers, helping with Mission Central, Christmas Providers, Harvest Festival, Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday school, serving communion, and many other acts of service. Betty was a member of the Euless Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association, the Euless Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and the Citizens Emergency Response Team. Every year beginning in 2014 through 2023, Betty received the U. S. President’s Volunteer Service Award. In 2017, she was named the City of Euless Volunteer of the Year. In 2022 and 2023, Betty received Certificates of Appreciation from the Euless Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association, and in 2022, she was named Volunteer of the Year by the Euless Police Department.
Certainly, the love Betty and Wayne shared with their family, their church, and their community made a lasting impression, and we are all the better for it; heaven just got better, too!
To honor Betty, lend a hand, serve others, serve your community, all with a servant’s heart and a smile on your face!
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, and brother Bill.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Steven and Jenny Priddy and their children Anne Marie, Savannah and husband Tyler Overton, John Michael, and Matthew; her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Marianne Priddy and their children Mitchell and Michelle and husband Nick Waterworth; brother and sister-in-law J. E. and Glenda Harrison and sister Shirley McCrary; and many Harrison and Priddy family members.
