Betty Darlene Scott

Betty Darlene Beckham Scott was born September 19, 1941 at her maternal grandparents' farmhouse near Hillsboro, Texas. She was the only child of Grady and LaVerne Bruton Beckham. The family moved to Fort Worth when she was one. Darlene grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1959. Darlene then studied accounting at Arlington State College and Texas Wesleyan College. She married her college sweetheart James Larry Scott on April 28, 1962. They lived in North Richland Hills for 12 years, then Hurst for 36 years before moving to Lake Granbury in 2010. They were married for 52 years until Larry's passing on August 5, 2014. Darlene worked for Reliable Life Insurance Co. for 30 years until her retirement as Senior Field Auditor in 2003. Darlene loved her life on Lake Granbury and is greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors. Services to be held at Lucas Funeral Home 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76053. Visitation 6pm-8pm Wednesday, March 19. Funeral service 11am Thursday, March 20. Internment at Smithfield Cemetery.
