Billy F Wigginton, 87, of Keller, Tx, died June 27, 2012. Services for Mr. Wigginton will be held June 29th, at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Tx with burial at the National Cemetery, in Dallas, July 2nd. He was born, Dec. 24th, 1924, near Rosebud, Tx., to James and Nellie Wigginton. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged, he joined the Temple Police Dept. and was shot in the line of duty November 1951. After recovering from his wounds he continued serving the citizens of Temple until he relocated to Lovington, NM, where he joined the police department for that city. In 1959 he joined the Hobbs Police Dept. In 1987 he retired with the rank of Lieutenant after 28 years of service to the city of Hobbs. He took great pride in being part of the Hobbs Police Department and watching it grow from the small town agency it was when he started there, to what he believed was one of the finest police departments in the state. Mr, Wigginton was known as a great man of integrity, and faith, having served on the boards of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, as well as First Assembly of God Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandy; daughters, Patricia Hanna and Linda Weeks; son-in-law, Kelly S. Weeks; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
