Blake Vincent Brayton - son, brother, friend, and talented musician - passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021, in Hurst, Texas in his family home. He was 17 years old and a recent graduate from KEYS High School.
Blake was born on December 4, 2003, in Fort Worth, Texas to parents Jennifer Coker and Jason Brayton. He was raised alongside his siblings in his great-grandparents house. While growing up, Blake was known for his many interests and ever-curious mind; there was always a new fascination that he was focused on, and he loved sharing his excitement with his loved ones. He took pride in how engaged he could be with different subjects, and learning something new each day. As he reached adulthood, he had begun a special interest in music and technology, and had hopes of pursuing a field in either of those professions.
As a young man with both passion and an intense sense of empathy, Blake loved to create music that helped express the emotions that he was feeling in hopes of reaching others through his sound. He spent his time balancing school, learning the different mechanics behind technology, writing songs, providing comfort for his friends, and helping his great-grandparents care for his younger siblings. He loved to spend time with his younger sister, and took joy in being one of her favorite people.
He is survived by his mother, Jennifer Coker, and her husband, Donnie; as well as his younger siblings, Keaton Woodruff, Aiden Miller, Emma Moore, and Mason McCroy. He is also survived by his grandmother, Christy Green, and her husband Jeremy; his grandfather, Scott Wayland and his wife Laura, his grandmother, Lisa Johnson and her husband; his great grandparents, Don and Floydean Pelletier, and his paternal great-grandmother, as well as his many cousins. Blake was preceded in death by his father, Jason Eugene Brayton, and his grandfather, Floy Price.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to The Jed Foundation.
