Carol Edwards, 81, of Burleson, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday July 28, 2024.
Carol Edwards was born February 9, 1943 in Rusk, Texas. Carol married D.L. Edwards on April 10,1958 in Hanley, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great grandmother. Carol was an admirer of horses, dogs and all sorts of animals and pets. Her greatest passion was her time spent with horses. Carol loved riding the numerous horses that she and D.L. owned over the years. She instilled her love for horses into her children and grandchildren, teaching them to ride at a young age. She loved barrel racing as well as training racehorses. Carol and D.L. spent many years traveling the country with the horse racing circuit. Training Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses. Carol and D.L. were both members of the Tarrant County Sherriff’s Posse, and a few years later, joined the Johnson County Sherriff’s Posse. After many years traveling the country with the horse racing circuit, Carol and D.L. settled in Burleson, Texas in April of 1983. Carol and D.L. shared a passion for rodeo, her and D.L. attended numerous rodeos together over the years. In the later years Carol and D.L. spent much time with their Canasta family of friends and kin folks. She played a mean game of Canasta. Carol had a motto she lived by as she once wrote in her journal, “When I’m gone, if I live in the hearts of the one’s I loved, I will never die.” Carol was a devoted Christian and loved her Lord and Savior. She will be missed but never forgotten.
Carol is preceded in death by her Parents, Henry and Eva Cheek; Eight siblings, Bill Autry, J.B. Autry, Clarence Audrey, Delbert Childress, Jesse Childress, Hazel Orin, J.C. Cheek, and Jackie Fleming.
Carol is survived by Husband, D.L. Edwards; Children, Eddie Edwards and Wife, Angie of Glen Rose, Texas; Tina Birdwell-Wagner of Whitney, Texas; Grandchildren, Shee' Romero, Nichole Stroman, Ashton Forbis, and Ruston Wood. Eight Great Grandchildren, and One Great-Great Grandchild; and many Nieces and Nephews.
