Bobbie Joe Harvey

June 8, 1938 — June 25, 2016

Bob was born in Leighton Alabama to Louise and Rayford Harvey. He spent most of his growing up years living with his maternal grandparents Joe and Lola Estelle Holderfield. Graduated from Huntsville High in 1957 where all his friends knew him as Bobby Joe and served in the USAF from January 1958 to January 1962. While stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho he met and married Deanna Wilson in 1959. They always joked that the first year was easy with no arguments as Bob spent from Sept 1959 to Oct 1960 in Morocco while Deanna waited for him back in Idaho. After being discharged in 1962 they moved to Los Angeles and Bob began his 39 year, 11 month, 17 day career with Continental Airlines, beginning in Maintenance before transferring to Passenger Services. During the first 9 years, they moved to Oklahoma, back to Los Angeles (Director of Passenger Services), to Chicago (Cargo Sales) and then back to Oklahoma (Passenger Services) where he finished his career. During the 1980’s Bob worked out of Houston’s Hobby Airport as a Corporate Trainer where he interfaced with many Continental employees while presenting training in many Continental locations. In 1992 Bob was promoted to General Manager of Operations in Tulsa, a position he held until he retired on January 1, 2002. After retirement Bob and Deanna traveled a few years and participated in many mission trips to Mexico, but their travels slowed down considerably after Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. By 2015 it was apparent that Bob and Deanna should be closer to family so they left their beloved community of Owasso, Oklahoma after 44 years and moved to Keller, Texas to be near their son Arthur and family. Bob is survived by his wife Deanna, 3 children, Charlotte Esau (Keith), Robert Harvey (Jayne) and Arthur Harvey (Sarah), 10 grandchildren: Sarah, Philip (Rachael), Timothy (Erica), Andrew, Rebekah, John Robert, Jessica (Dakota), Jennifer (Dylan), Hannah, John Steven and 6 great-grandchildren. He is survived also by his brother Phillip (Gale) and predeceased by his grandparents, parents, brother Frank and sister Lola. A memorial service will be held for Bob July 9 at 1:00pm at Discovery Bible Fellowship in Owasso, OK. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to American Parkinson Disease Association, Oklahoma Chapter, P.O. Box 3113, Broken Arrow, OK 74013, or the charity of your choice.

Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso will handle the arrangements in Oklahoma.
