Bobbie Ruth Hicks

Bobbie Ruth Hicks, 90, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 in Keller, Texas. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 S. Main St. Keller, TX. Burial will be at a later date at Chilton Cemetery, Chilton, Falls County, TX.

A life-long Texan, Bobbie was born July 14, 1927 to Henry James Coleman and Bobbie Maude Douglas Coleman in Ballinger. She attended high school in Van Alstyne where she met and married Henry Lee Lewis in 1943. Bobbie and Henry had five children and lived several places including Dallas, Fort Benning, GA, Colorado City, Midland, and Denton before settling in Waco in 1971.

About a year after Henry’s death in 1978 Bobbie met Robert J. Hicks, Sr. of Chilton and ten days later they married in Las Vegas, NV. Bobbie and Bob were happily married for 29 years.

After Bob passed away In December 2008 Bobbie moved to Whitley Place Assisted Living near her daughter Ginia in Keller, Texas. Bobbie developed close friendships with both residents and staff during the 9+ years that she lived at Whitley Place. She always looked forward to her daily domino games with friends and Sunday afternoons with her daughter Ginia.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, daughter Cheryl Lewis Smith, son David W. Lewis, step-son Robert J. Hicks, Jr., siblings Douglas S. Coleman, and Virginia Morgan, and grandson Todd Smith.

Bobbie is survived by her daughter Ginia Chapline and husband Michael of Fort Worth, son Ronald L. Lewis and wife Sherry of Crawford, son James G. Lewis of Valley Mills, step-daughter Dawn Hicks Hall and husband Matt of Hewitt,
son-in-law Joe Smith of Rhome, daughter-in-law Betty Moore of Lumberton,
brother-in-law Red Morgan of Searcy, Arkansas, as well as 22 grandchildren:
Becky Lewis Wojcik, Shera Lewis Cameron, Karen Lewis Herbrich, Dean Smith,
Eddie Smith, Amy Smith Davis, Shelley Lewis Schlett, Melissa Lewis Richmeyer, Michael Lewis, Leeanne Lewis Cox, Amanda Lewis, David Lewis, Christi Lewis, Ron Lewis, Lee Penney, Benjamin Penney, Jonathan Chapline, Warren Chapline, Jessica Hicks Roberts, Christopher Hicks, Devon Hall Upton, Dezi Hall, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Whitley Place Assisted Living for their loving care of Bobbie over the past nine years and thanks Trinity Hospice for their loving care and support over the past few months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
