Bobbye Westbrook

July 11, 1933 — December 25, 2024

Bobbye J. “Granna” Westbrook, 91, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Bobbye was born on July 11, 1933, in Terrell, Texas to Lloyd and Lottie Spradlin. She was a graduate of Denison High School and married William F. “Bill” Westbrook on June 13, 1951. The two of them settled in the Dallas area and they both worked for Safeway for a number of years and enjoyed traveling with friends when their work schedules would allow. Bobbye and Bill had one daughter, Tessa, who arrived over 26 years into their marriage. In total, she and Bill enjoyed over 40 wonderful years together prior to his passing in 1993, while their daughter was in high school. Bobbye took on the challenge of raising a teenager on her own with the can-do, never-give-up spirit that she maintained through her final days.

Bobbye was a lifelong Texan, spending the majority of her adult life in Lewisville, Texas, where she and Bill owned Bill’s Meat Market from 1968 to 1979. In the later 1990’s, Bobbye became a beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics and continued to sell make up (mostly to friends and family) for 25+ years. Bobbye left Lewisville and moved to Fort Worth in 2004, to be closer to her daughter. Her two grandchildren, Ryley and Reece, were a great source of pride for her, and she loved nothing more than doting on them.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas, to honor her memory and celebrate her remarkable life.

Bobbye’s legacy is carried on by her devoted daughter, Tessa Martinez, and her husband, Ryan, of Fort Worth; her beloved grandchildren, Ryley and Reece Martinez, also of Fort Worth; her sister, Joyce Bok, and her husband, Denver, of Carrollton; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who adored her.

She is reunited in eternity with her parents; her husband, Bill; her sister, Bettye Balch, and her husband, Bob; as well as her beloved dog, Bogie.

Bobbye will be remembered as a “tough old broad” (her exact words), and for her kindness, humor, tenacity, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence brought joy to all who knew her, and her memory will be forever cherished. Her family would like to thank all of the nurses, aides, and other personnel from TheraCare Home Health, Elysian Hospice, and Brightstar Care who helped care for Bobbye over the years – their support was invaluable, and we are forever grateful to them all. In lieu of flowers, Bobbye’s family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society in her honor.
