On August 31, 2019, Bradley Scott Sutter, 56, passed away peacefully in Grapevine, Texas after a long battle with cancer. Scott, a very proud father, son, brother, and friend to so many, will be greatly missed. In his last days, he was surrounded by his family and was wonderfully cared for by the nursing staff at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. To the end, he managed to display the humor and tremendous will that were his hallmarks.
Scott was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 1, 1963 and grew up moving around the country as part of a U.S. Air Force family. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kansas in 1981 and went on to the University of Kansas where he became a legend as a member of Sigma Chi and occasionally went to class. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1985. He then began a long, successful career in the pharmaceutical industry starting as a sales representative for Marion Laboratories in Kansas City. Scott’s career thrived, despite working through six corporate mergers, ultimately becoming the Regional Director for the Managed Care division of Sanofi in Dallas. Those who worked for him lovingly refer to him as the best boss they ever had and still hold ‘Team Scott’ reunions.
Scott was a man of great generosity, intelligence and humor. Some of his favorite things included late night chats with his parents, golf, Jayhawk basketball, grilling, COSTCO, buying clothes and shoes online, ESPN talk shows, hanging with his college friends known as the Big Toes, and Mike the dog. Scott also enjoyed occasionally going under the pseudonym ‘Maurice’ which is fitting as he now is graced with the ‘pompitous of love’ in Heaven.
Scott’s greatest love though was for his two girls, both of whom were a source of tremendous pride and joy. Scott is survived by his parents, Brad and Nancy Sutter; his brother, Chris Sutter, his wife Heather and sons Colin and Will; his sister, Amanda Ploughman, her husband Dave and her children Nicholas, Cate, and Christopher; his former wife and mother of his children, Gina Sutter; his daughter, Jordan and her husband Conner Dale; and his daughter Julia Sutter.
A private ceremony will be held at White’s Chapel in Southlake, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or cancer charity of one’s choice.
