Brenda Irene Mayes

Brenda Irene Mayes, born and raised in Grapevine, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on August 2nd, 2018. Brenda was born on July 27th, 1960. She was preceded in death by her brother Glen Edward, sister Pamela Mayes Rodgers and mother Necie Armanda Mayes and recent passing of her father, Mitchell M. Mayes. Brenda is survived by her daughter Jennifer Mayes Madera, son in law Corey Madera, grandaughter Samantha Shyy, brother Ronald Mayes and sister Lacelia Watterson.

Brenda spent her life serving; serving the Lord and her family. Throughout her short but full 58 years Brenda served the role of Daughter, Sister, Aunt "Nanny", but the role that best suited her was "Mother". Not only did Brenda choose to raise one of her nieces as her own, but Brenda played a supportive mother role for most of the Mayes family especially Brandy Mayes-Leone and Sheena Rodgers. Between these three girls, Brenda's life felt fulfilled as a mother and mentor. She taught her family about having work ethic because that was Brenda. She was passionate about her responsibility throughout the years. Brenda joined her father at an early age of 18 to work at Avial. After her fathers retirement she moved on to work for Dallas Air Motive. Brenda loved her job and those she worked with throughout the years.

Brenda leaves behind a legacy of family. Aunt or better known as Nanny to Dwight Watterson, Mandy Transou, Sheena Rodgers, Brandy Mayes-Leone, Tiffany Mayes, Alyssa Mayes and Kristopher Mayes. She was a Great Nanny to Roni Lynn, Justin Monroe, Christopher Wayne, Mackenzie Armanda, Tori Jo. Brenda was Great-Great Nanny to Kendale Joe and Isabelle-Jean Irene. She also served as a friend and confident to countless friends and extended family. Her presence will be drastically missed.

Services to be held on Wednesday, August 8th, 2018 at the Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas at 10 am. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 7th from 6-8p at Lucas Funeral Home.
