Brenda J Slovak lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Keller United Methodist Church, 1025 Johnson Road, Keller. Interment: Restland Memorial Park, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 South Main St., Keller.

She was born in Dallas on Dec. 27, 1960 and graduated from RL Turner high school in 1979 and attended Texas Woman’s University with a BS in December 1985. In 2005, Brenda completed her Master’s in Liberal Arts at Southern Methodist University.
Brenda started her career in law enforcement at NorthLake College from 1980-1985 and her next career move took her to Texas Woman’s University Campus Police from 1985-1988. Her time at Keller Police Department began in 1988 until present. During her tenure in Keller she was the Commander over Operations, Criminal Investigations and Support Services as well as being the Public Information Officer for the police department. During her time with Keller she started the Mounted Patrol, Bicycle patrol and participated on the Regional SWAT as an Operator, Negotiator and Commander for 20+ years.
She completed the FBI National Academy in 2008 where she attained both the Yellow and Blue bricks and was a member of the Keller Chamber of Commerce for many years as both a member and a board member.
Brenda was preceded in death by her Mother; Father; Sister; grandparents; and two nieces.
Survivors: She is survived by Beki Picus; sister, Michelle Lawson; aunts, Geraldine Shotwell and Elline O’Brien; uncle, Tom O’Brien; and many friends.
