Brian King Holdgate

Brian King Holdgate (73), of Southlake Texas passed away on May 1, 2024. Brian was born to Donald Sr. and Gertrude Holdgate on March 30, 1951 in Nantucket Island, MA. He played football as a center for Nantucket High school graduating class of 1969, who helped them reach 2 championships. While raising a family with Michelle Larrabee during college, Brian worked as a surveyor for Josiah Barrett. He was a talented student who graduated Northeastern University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1974. After college he worked for Nelews, Inc. which transferred him to Greenville, SC and several states across the US which eventually brought him to Texas. He called Dallas-Fort Worth his home for the last 44 years.

Brian was a successful businessman in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area for over 40 years. He partnered in three construction businesses, Tri-Dal Excavation & Utilities followed by Izzarelli & Holdgate in 1996 and Bear Creek Site Utilities in 1999 with his wife and business partner Sandi Izzarelli. Brian’s passion to teach engineering & business skills, embrace strong work ethic and passion is evident in the success he achieved as a small business owner and Brian positively impacted those he worked with on a day-to-day basis.

Aside from business, Brian loved travel, golfing, fishing, hiking, snowshoeing and skiing as well as watching the New England sports teams and going to the Dallas Stars games. He enjoyed adventure and the outdoors during his many travels as well as the time he spent in Jackson, Wyoming exploring the Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. He was a member of the Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club and his love of sports and fishing from a young age continued over the years.

Brian is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sandi Izzarelli of Southlake Texas, daughter Michelle Leigh Holdgate Evans, grandson Logan Evans and Son-in-Law Mark Evans of McKinney Texas. He is also survived by 2 sisters & 5 brothers: Sandra, Joanne, Donald Jr., Gilbert, Chris, Richard and Kevin. Brian was predeceased by his parents Donald Sr, Gertrude & brother William (Billy).

Brian will be greatly missed by his family, friends and business associates. There will be a Celebration of Life in Nantucket to enjoy the ocean with the date TBD. His life will also be privately celebrated in the mountains of Jackson Hole.
