Sgt. Brian Michael “Mike” Kuntz, 45, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on July 22, 2022 surrounded by his family after failed CPR attempts after a shift with the Dallas College PD.
Mike was born on 8/29/1976 in Vero Beach, Florida. He graduated from Vero Beach High School and joined the US Army in 1993.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Mike put his many talents to use working as a mechanic, as well as for bank of America for 10 years.
In 2005 Mike met Amy, they had 3 children, Joseph, Kaylea, and Savannah. They spent their time as a family hiking, camping, and enjoying nature.
Mike had always loved serving people but his desire to do so was not fulfilled with the jobs he had. He joined the Cedar Valley Police Academy and graduated with high grades. He then joined the Crowley Police department, then moved to Coffee City Police Department, then to Caney City Police where he worked as a police officer and a firefighter. Mike then left to work with Hawk Cove Police Department where he got hired as a reserve officer, then joined the Dallas College Police Dept where he was a full-time officer. During his time at Hawk Cove PD, he had done an exceptional service that earned him the promotion to Sergeant, but had not gotten the opportunity to be pinned with the new badge
Mike loved his family, police work, and enjoyed making people laugh, as well as going to the shooting range with his family and fellow officers. He was always helping people and doing his part to make the world a better place. He was a scuba diver, and took his wife and children on many scuba diving adventures. The last time they did was just a few days before he went to meet his Lord.
Mike is survived by his wife Amy, son Joe, daughters Kaylea and Savannah, and his parents Barbara and Mark.
