Brian Steele

September 22, 1959 — December 18, 2024

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” - Ephesians 2:8

Brian Steele was a beloved husband, son and father. He lived with compassion and faithfulness and friendship. Brian enjoyed cooking and watching sports. He loved the Lord and walked by faith every day. He passed peacefully into eternal life on December 18, 2024.

Brian was born on September 22, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas, but grew up in Roanoke, Texas. During these years, it was a small rural town. His younger days were filled with country activities such as hunting, fishing, sports and riding bicycles. Bruce, his brother, and friends would leave the house in the morning and play outside until it started getting dark. Many fond memories were always made.

Brian attended Roanoke Elementary School, Northwest Junior High, and graduated from Northwest High School. He played football and basketball during his junior high and high school years and experienced many good times with his friends.

After graduating, he worked with his dad and brother in grocery stores owned by the family. He continued working in the meat industry for over 40 years, working for numerous retail companies. He completed his career with Costco where he was employed for the last 11 years. Brian was a very faithful, hard-working associate who valued being a good team member and always doing excellent work.

Brian was a member of The Hills Church for over 20 years where he grew in faith. It is this faith that stayed with him through his battle with cancer.

He was admired by his family for the way he cared for his mother as her health declined. As her primary caretaker, he was very dedicated to ensuring that she always had everything she needed and was cared for.

One of Brian’s favorite vacation destinations was going to Florida with his wife, Lori. They visited with Chris, his son and his wife, Candace and the grandkids, ate lots of good food, and hunted for seashells on the beautiful beach.

Brian was proceeded in death by his father, James Milton Steele, and his mother, Johnnie Sue.

He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Lori, his son, Chris Steele (Candice), grandchildren Bryson, Brayden and Taylor; stepchildren Andy Rogers and Saralen Rogers, brother Bruce Steele (Donna), niece Tara Doshier (Jon) and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express much gratitude to Arcy Hospice for all their tender, loving care with a special forever thank you to Jody RN, as well as all the other hospice team who helped them so much through this difficult time. They would also like to thank the Mercy Continuous Care nurses for their compassionate care.

"Cancer got this body, but it won't get the next." - Brian Steele
